What radios do you own?: Saber Series, XTS 3000

SRIB options

Post by N7QQU-Ken »

Good Day-

What are my options for getting a non-/\/\ SRIB? I have looked on the website and searched the web and found nothing. LOTS of standard RIBS but no SRIBS. Why is that? Special restricted hardware or chips?

Thanks for the help:)

Ken
My "shrink" says I am addicted to the following radios:
Saber, Saber R, Systems Saber, Astro Saber, Astro Saber R, XTS3000 R and all the accessories I can find.

Ken,

I have never seen an a/m S-rib, I would assume no one makes one.

The SmartRIB contains much more hardware in it than the standard RIB does. If I recall, there are a couple of ASIC's in there, as well as some firmware and other things of that nature.

The SmartRIB, if I recall correctly, does some caching of the radio data during programming, and handles erasure of the radio flash and storage of the boot code such that things line up properly when put back in the radio.

I have never seen an aftermarket SmartRIB, and can say with a fairly high degree of confidence that such an item doesn't exist.
