MT100 Low Band 99 channel programming ?

Post by w1icw »

HI folks,
I am upgrading from a 6 channel MT1000 lowband, to a 99 channel version.
All is well; the VCO mod has been completed and bench tested. Radio tuned up just fine, with close to 8 watts out.
The problem I do have is programming more than 6 channels with the P200LB software. I can program more channels with the MT1000 software, but then I would presumably have to hex edit after the fact..
I have successfully hex edited my P200LB software to move the upper limit, but it will not let me program any more than 6 channels.
If I remember correctly, when I programmed the radio, I might have just "forced in" the codeplug in from my existing 6 channel radio so I didn't have to mess with reprogramming the existing memory channels.

Anybody have any sage advice for me?>

I have about 20 additional channels on top of the existing 6 I would like to add, so I have pretty much everything in New England in the radio should I have to travel for work or hamfests.

I was able to program my P200 lb up to 52.525 without any hardware modifications and just over 5w output. You may need a 99chan codeplug for it to work. I also was able to program a MT1000 30-36 radio down to 28MHz without any changes and full 6w output at 29.100.

I just read my 10 meter MT1000 with the MT1000 software.. 17 memory channels and all is well. If I read the same radio with my P200LB software, I only see the first 6 channels. I suspect what I have is a crippled version of the P200LB software.
I have spent several hours trying to hex edit the band limits on my MT1000 software but no luck yet. Not sure I have found the correct places to modify. Also having a helluva time getting the checksum to come out right to match the original file.

Please help before I tear what remains of my thinning hair out..

so the final installment is that I ended up programming everything up with the MT1000 software using dummy frequencies, and then went in and hexedited the codeplug file. Still would like to modify my MT1000 software for future use. If anyone can tell me which addresses to change that would be swell.
As I say, I have already modded my P200LB software, but the addresses of the important bits are totally different in the MT1000 software.

So you have already performed my hardware mods now go to this web page

http://www.repeater-builder.com/motorol ... s-mod.html

and do the RSS mods courtesy of WA1MIK, after the mods you won't have to do anymore hex editing.

Remember for the 99 chnl radio use MT1000.exe RSS and for the P200 use p200LB.exe.

Huh,

Just reading over the repeater builders article I see that it's not very clear explaining that for 99 channel radios you need to use MT1000.EXE RSS and if you follow the same steps that you did to hexedit the P200LB.exe RSS modifying the MT1000.exe RSS then you should be fine programming the 99 channel radios.
