XTS5000 CPS Question

I just ordered a new XTS5000 UHF Range 2, Model 2 today. I was wondering what the most current software version I will need to program is? I currently have Astro CPS R14. Will this one work, or will I need to renew my account from moto and get the latest?

If it's "brand new", then you'll need R15.xx.xx for it.

Thanks for the info, sorry for the dumb question...but as long as it is version R15, does it matter what the other numbers are? Example, you said R15.xx.xx Does it matter what number it is where the x's are?

The codeplug version changes with the major revision, not the .01's or .02's as an example. The CPS checks the codeplug version number upon reading the radio. So if you try your CPS R14 on a radio that was last hit with CPS R15, you'll get the good old Moto CPS error..

What he's asking is do the x's in the 15.xx.xx matter, so if a radio is programmed by say 15.01.00 would cps 15.00.00 read it. From what i recall, maybe I think i have seen both cases, where minor revisions do lock out lower versions of the same major revision and where they do not. I would say more often than not it does matter.

Yes, it shouldn't be a problem. If memory serves correct throughout the years of the Astro25 line, the .01's or .02's of each major release all shared the same major release codeplug version, including current releases. So as an example, CPS R15.00.00 gives you a codeplug version of 001C, which should remain the same if they come out with lets say R15.01.01. Another example is CPS R09.00.00 uses codeplug version 0013, and CPS R09.01.02 uses codeplug version 0013, so the CPS won't throw up any flags if you use either version of R09 CPS on a radio that has a version 0013 codeplug structure.
