Hi - Would anyone be willing to offer me some advice?
I have a HT1250 w/ firmware R03.01.03 programmed with CPS 6.12.02 using an unrecommended USB aftermarket cable. Radio operates as-desired.
Just for the learning experience of it, having never upgraded radio firmware before, I ordered the RKN4075C ribless programming cable and AAHLN9742D flash upgrade adapter. I've read through the README file included with the R05.17.01 firmware and the operation seems pretty straight forward.
Any Thoughts? Warnings? Lessons learned?
Thanks for any advice you can share!

- What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's
Re: HT1250 Update Question
just personally i don't like the ribless cables for flashing, i always preferred to use a regular cable and rib

Re: HT1250 Update Question
Just make sure you have a good battery. I've done a ton of radios with the ribless cable and haven't had any issues. Just follow the instructions in the software and it will be pretty straightforward.

Also make sure you disable any screensaver or power saving features on your computer before starting it, and if your using a laptop make sure you're plugged in.
Re: HT1250 Update Question
RIBless cable is about 4x the speed as ribbed. Have upgraded well over 100 radios and never a problem. And no worries about the battery in the RIB dying halfway through the write, bricking the radio . . .HLA wrote:just personally i don't like the ribless cables for flashing, i always preferred to use a regular cable and rib
