ALL,
Thanks in advance for your time. This seems like a simple question that I
am having trouble getting a straight answer to. Please tell me if this is
possible in the realm of Centracom Gold Elite 'console patching';
- From an operators' position at a Centracom Gold Elite (CGE):
We are attempting to 'console patch'
A conventional VHF Repeater Resource ( CGE/Console->CEB->DIU->network->Quantar)
with
An XTL5000 Consolette Trunked Resource (CGE/Console->CEB->V.24 (150ft run)->XTL500 Consolette (T8R8, Astro CAI).
All of these resources work fine independently and conventional resources can be patched together-
no problem.
The Console allows the user to select the resources but will not pass audio between a conventional
resource and the XTL consolette.
All of these resources- both trunked and conventional are being captured by our call recorder.
The XTL5000 Consolette was not installed with the CGE's -but only recently installed and never tested
for this functionality (aka I am not trying to say it ever worked- dunno).
Is there a setting in the admin that I can steer our tech toward? (long story/old school) or a connection that needs to be made?
This seems so simple to me and this should be a matter of patching these two resources together. Crossmute, auxio setting?
What to look for in Admin? Your guidance is appreciated, so thanks in advance.
Mike

Re: Centracom Gold Elite Patching XTL5000 Consolette
Does the XTL consolette work properly in normal TX/RX via the CCGE on the trunked system?
Whats the interface of the XTL? Tone control? BIM/ACIM combo?

Re: Centracom Gold Elite Patching XTL5000 Consolette
Thank you for taking the time to answer; I am in a bad spot operationally until I get this resolved.
The XTL5000 is located about 150' away from the CEB and is connected via 4-wire control. Once at the CEB the audio is picked off of a punch block anddistributed to a BIM which brings the resource under control of CCGE.
ASTRO signalling is also picked off and sent to an ACIM where Astro ID's are succesfully being read and aliased on the CCGE.
The XTL500 is L20KSS9PW1AN on a Type II P25 system if that helps. The back side of the XTL Consolette has two ports populated-
Accessory-1 which is an RJ45 and Accessory-2 which is a large parallel style connector which has an RJ45 plugged into the back of it.
If my understanding of all this is correct I believe that the BIM/ACIM combo is the answer?
It occurs to me that once audio hits the CCGE it does not really care where it came from....so is this a BIM issue.....your guidance is appreciated.

Re: Centracom Gold Elite Patching XTL5000 Consolette
If both the RJ45 ACCY1 and DB25 ACCY2 ports are populated it's likely a BIM/ACIM combo, with the DB25 handling audio transport and the RJ45 ACCY1 handling signaling.
Again, does the XTL 5000 consolette operate normally with audio in both directions when it isn't patched?
Additionally, in the Console Database Manager (CDM) for CCGE, for the XTL5000 resource, "Duplex Patch" should NOT be in the "Capabilities" list as it's not a duplex device. This could be causing some of your problems.
Your Quantar should have "Duplex Patch" enabled in the CDM as it *is* a duplex device.

Re: Centracom Gold Elite Patching XTL5000 Consolette
Let me ask a question here. Do you get audio going to the XTL tranmitter being heard, but have problems hearing the receive audio coming from the XTL consolette? If this is the case, then there is a jumper on the BIM card that need to be cut. it is JU7. It's located about mid way back near the left side of the board if you lay it down flat with the front facing you.
Have run into the broken RX audio issue when dealing with some other radio interfaces using patches in the past. About pulled my hair out till one smart Motorola tech told me about the JU7 jumper that needed to be cut. With this jumper in, patches would not key up or pass audio most of the time.
Not saying this is your issue, but thought I would pass it along for what it is worth.
