XTS-3000 Package

Post by fl0 »

Hi Board,

I think about getting a radio with the following flashcode:

Code: Select all

500008-000000-1
The flashcode decoder says, its got a H38 package with "SmartZone Systems Operation". I want to use the radio in the Amateur bands on 70cm in APCO25 and FM. Will it work with this radio? Can I do FM in simplex and on repeaters with the H38 package?

Another question is, if there is a special package needed to do DTMF signalling tones in FM. Can I do it with this radio?

cheers

Assuming it's an "R" split radio then yes, it will do what you listed. Simplex and/or repeater settings have nothing to do with the flashcode and are set in the CPS when you program the radio. All XTS radios do FM; the P25 is a digital feature which your radio does have.

Hi Tom,

the radio model is

|code]H09RDH9PW7BN[/code]

So I assume it is an "R" split radio. Do I need any other feature to have DTMF signalling in FM working? That would be useful for working the radio in Echolink etc.
And another question that just came to mind is: What is this "H14" Enhanced ID Display feature? What can I do with that?
cheers

To clarify, there is nothing special required to do DTMF signaling tones in FM. If it's a model 3 radio, all you need to do is enable "Hot Keypad" on each conventional analog personality, and you can key up and live dial DTMF tones. No special flash options required.

For XTS 3000, "R" indicates it's a 403-470MHz radio. Ideal for what you are wanting to use it for.

Enhanced ID Display allows the radio to display the radio ID (or associated alias) of the transmitting radio in cases where the system is using MDC 1200 or is a trunking system. For the average amateur user, Enhanced ID Display won't do anything for you.

Hi there,

thanks for the Info. I want to use the radio for analgue FM and P25 operation. So with "H14" I cannot program P25 IDs to callsgins?
That would have been a nice feature to see who is actually talking.

And what is the package "Repeater Access" for? Do I need that for programming differnet input and output frequencies on a repeater channel in FM oder P25 mode? Can I do CTCSS without it? We have some repeaters in FM here that need a e.g. 67Hz tone for operation. If not available in any radio, what package or flash code would I need for that?

cheers

Repeater Access in the Flashcode is for a specialty feature of MDC-1200 (an older, analog signalling system that sounds like a "squawk" before or after a transmission) that is very rarely used. You don't need it, but having it doesn't hurt you. You can do CTCSS and DPL without it. NO Special option is required for CTCSS or DPL operation.

The bandsplit is only a suggestion.

Specifically, Repeater Access allows the radio to send a specialized MDC packet that certain systems require to be sent before the repeater will send traffic. I've never seen a system set up like this, but I know it can be done. I've never used Repeater Access for anything, ever.

The XTS3000 will NOT alias mdc and astro ID's to call lists. You have to get an astro25 radio for that to function. The other option is to get radios flashed with soft id where you program the radio with a alpha-numeric ID as well as but this only works in Astro mode.
