MOTOTRBO Programming issues w/Windows 7 Pro 32 Bit

Post by Dorf411 »

We just got some new pc's in the shop with Windows 7 Pro 32 bit. I started with MOTOTRBO since it is USB based and already ran into issues getting it to work reliably. The MOTOTRBO version being used is 6.0 or .1 if there is one.

I can get Windows 7 to load the USB drivers when the radio is attached but it doesn't appear to want to make the MOTOTRBO network that normally gets created. So when I try to read a radio it fails, on a couple occasions when attempting to get it to work the network was created and it can read/write the radio.

Anyone have any idea what may be causing the network not to be created? Firewall, networking permissions, any ideas?

Thanks,

John

I don't have my programming PC in front of me, but it seems to me there is some information in the TRBO CPS 'readme' file which deals with network settings for XP/Vista/Win7...worth a look & may help you out.

Yes the CD and MOL have a application setup guide which I have followed to the "T" and I still cannot make it work reliably. I called Motorola today after spending hours trying things with networking, firewalls, and permissions and could not come up with a solution.

The guy at Motorola had me check everything that I had already done and had no solution. I can make it work in XP Mode but you have a bit of fooling around to make it work.

I have had many problems with this in the past and speaking to the experts I have finally found at least a workable soultion. Two problems can occur when you connect the TRBO radio to Windows 7. First the driver is not loaded correctly. To fix this go to device manager and hardware and under networks you will see the TRBO radio. If it has a little yellow explantion mark next to it then right click and select unistall. Remove the usb and replug it again to reinstall the driver. If there is no explanation mark then it sould be the second problem. Sometimes when you connect the TRBO radios they dont like all the network settings that windows gives them. If you go to the network settings for the network that the TRBO radio sets up and right click on it you can unselect all the check boxes except TCIP. Then unplug the usb and replug the USB and it should work. I have had some success with checking both of these problems and it really varies from radio to radio as you program them

Give me a shout if you need any further information.

Phil

I have to turn off the wireless on my CF30M3 to program any radio that has an IP address (XTS5K, TRBO, Etc). Weird, but it works.
