MTS2000 - CPS version and Standalone Utility Update??

I have recently acquired a front LCD MTS2000 which I am trying to program. With my other MTS2000's, I have always been able to use DOS RSS R06.07.00. However, with the latest MTS2000, I am getting "Codeplug too new".

I have checked my notes and the archive and established the following:

- I cannot use DOS RSS R06.08.00 as it does NOT support H01.....PW.... radio's - which mine is

- I cannot established the firmware version of my MTS2000. Pressing the "3rd down" side button 5 times at switch on does not work..and the LCD has lots of missing pixels so I might not be able to see the firmware version anyway

- If the firmware version is BELOW 5.63 , I cannot use CPS R02.02.00 or later WITHOUT updating using the special Standalone Update Utility? From my other MTS2000's , I think the firmware will be below 5.63

- CPS R01.13.00 does NOT allow the subsequent use of DOS RSS - so my radio must have been previously programmed with CPS R01.13.00 or LATER as DOS RSS gives "codeplug too new"

So I need to use CPS between R01.13.00 and less than R02.02.00. Any comments?

What is the Standalone Update Utility and do you need the special RIB with switches to use it??

The real MTS2000 need a SMARTRIB to upgrade it.
The european MTS2000 (with 2100 series firmware),MTS201x,GP1200 and some other custom made MTS2000,need a seperate upgradetool and a modified RIB or Unirib,to upgrade them.

I finally managed to program my MTS2000 last night using Wookie 2.1!!!!!!!

I never realized that there was a US and European version of the MTS2000 with different firmware.

When I used "standard" MTS2000 DOS RSS I got "Codeplug too new" so thought I would need "standard" MTS2000 CPS..which did not work..but Wookie did!!!

Will DOS RSS for MT2100 program a Euro MTS2000?
