MTS2000 - CPS R02.00.01 - corrupted my laptop

Post by g8tzl2004 »

Having got "codeplug too new" with my MTS2000 using DOS RSS R06.07.00, I have been trying to install CPS R02.00.01

Is CPS R02.00.01 really 250MB in size!!!!!!!

It would not install on my Thinkpad 380XD running Win 98 and corrupted my Thinkpad 600E running XP.."Blue Screen of Death" every time I booted the 600E. Thankfully I was able to use Safe Mode and System Restore!!!

Is CPS R02.00.01 unstable???

Its running OK on my "modern" Thinkpad X60 but I can't enable the serial port on the Ultrabase...looks like weeks of messing to enable the serial port :(

Any thoughts?

Never heard of this problem. What is the source of your software?

The zipped CPS R02.00.01 was around 120MB and unzipped about 250MB...which is enormous!!

Is this correct?

Just read the Readme!!!

450MB required for "Typical" installation INCLUDING Audio Visual tutorials!!!!!!

60MB for a "Compact" installation. Maybe thats my problem. The old laptops can't cope with the Audio Visual stuff???

CPS R02.00.01 also installed Microsoft XML 4.0 Parser SDK...need to research what that's for!!

Just tried the "compact" installation - still completely corrupts my laptop.

However, I have enabled the serial port on my Thinkpad X60. The serial port driver had NOT been installed correctly and was showing up as just a questionmark on Device Manager (with no mention that the ? applied to the serial port). I also enabled the serial port in BIOS (and disabled the IR port)

Having got the CPS running on my Thinkapd X60, I then got "Error reading from image when attempting to unpack block Radio Wide Unpack failed". I searched this term on the Batboard and saw mention of using Wookie 2.1 ....which WORKS!!!!!!

Is it one of the Indonesian 220 MHz radios, or a Euro MTS?

Its a Euro MTS2000 which I think has MT2100 firmware. I never realized that there was a difference between US and Euro MTS2000's!!

When I used USA DOS RSS , I got "codeplug too new" rather than "unsupported model" so I just assumed I needed USA CPS..but Wookie works. I'm also going to try 2100 Series DOS RSS to see if that works as well. It was reading about the Indonesian 220MHz MTS2000's which got me using Wookie!!!

Does the Indonesian 220 MHz MTS2000 use "modified" 136-175MHz RF boards?...so thats why they are deaf on 220 MHz?

I have a Tait 5040 Band 3 handheld which can be progged with no mods from 163-235MHz - great for 223MHz with CTCSS.
