Hello guys
I am trying to convert a UHF GM640 into a GM340 to use as an experimental Ham radio APRS node.
I've done GP640 to GP340 before but i'm having problems with the mobile, I've followed the procedure used by 'Andreas' from on his website, everything seems to work, I get no error messages, get a success message at the end but the radio is still a GM640, having a GM640 model number and readable with GM640 CPS.
On Andreas web page (in German) there is mention of a new version 4 codeplug which is different, this seems to be the problem I have the codeplug (for the GM640) is version 4.
So, anyone have a way around it?

I think,you´ve made something wrong.
Load and program the GM340 codeplug ( Phase 3/3 and/or hardware/applicaton codeplug).
Don´t click at the oter checkboxes,to save anything like tuning data etc.
Load and flash the GM3xx firmware.

Thank you for replying, and for the excellent website and for Google translating it!!.
I have done exactly as you describe but I think the Flashgrade application is not writing the codeplug, I have tried a GP340 and it works fine but not a GM340.
FlashGrade hangs at the end of 'write codeplug'.

I never heard about this before!
Don´t use a USB cable.Always use a RIB with a programming cable.
What version og the lab upgradekit,do you tried?

It is a serial RIB not USB, i've tried slow computer, fast computer windows xp, windows 98
The upgradetool is version D03.00.00a 03-MAY-2000 it works well for GP640 to GP340 using the same RIB and flashadapter, but not for GM640 to GM340.
I have tried many times the GM640 each time I get 'sucess' for upgrade but the radio is still a gm640 can be read by gm640 CPS.

I think,you flashed the wrong firmware or programmed a wrong codeplug.
The latest EU Waris Lab Upgradekit,is R03.08.00 with GM3xx firmware R03.14.00
