MT1000 no TX

Post by Cloddog »

Hello all, I got a MT1000 99-ch. UHF w. DTMF pad at a storage unit auction. Good codeplug, powers up/programs properly, etc. The problem: radio re-powers up when PTT is depressed, just as if it had been turned off/on with the switch. Battery is good. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem?
Got 2 99-ch. VHF units that both work FB plus 8 HT-600 6-chs all for $25.00 so I'm way ahead but sure would like to use the UHF on the C.A.R.L.A. system here in Reno. Any ideas?
Thanks and Happy July 4!

Turned out the unit had been dropped; damage wasn't visible until I removed the belt clip. Piece of plastic had broken off and wedged itself between the shield and case, thus shorting the board on xmit. Changed out the case (old P200 back's a perfect fit) and it's ready to rock 'n roll.
(Note to self: Noisy grandkids tend to skew troubleshooting procedures.)
