HT1000 Programming on an XP/Windows 7 Machine

Post by SoCalRescue »

Is it possible? Can you run the HT1000 RSS on a machine with XP or Windows 7 on it? I dont have a DOS machine.

Boot it into DOS mode and as long as you have a real serial port you should probably be OK. What are the specs on the machine/s you want to use?
The bandsplit is only a suggestion.

Yeah that's not going to work. You need a PC with a real serial port. Download a DOS boot disk and run the RSS in true dos and it should work but I'm telling you right now the Mac thing ain't gonna cut it.

Actually, it's a specially modified version of DOSbox v0.65, which you can download here:

http://home.arcor.de/h-a-l-9000/dosbox_ ... _ocbus.zip

Install the 'real' v0.65 first, then replace the executable with the modified one from the link above.

There are also a couple of DLL files needed to make it run...no idea why they weren't included in the zipped file. If you PM me your email address, I'll email them to you, along with a working config file & you should be good to go.

Keep in mind, it only works for the 'simple' RSS packages like Maxtrac, GM300, SM/SP50/120, GTX, LCS. Other RSS which use the serial port differently like HT1000, MTSX, MCS, etc do not work. At least, that's been my experience after much experimentation...some have claimed to have those RSS packages work on a faster (2GHz+) desktop, but I can't confirm that.

The DOSbox developers claim to have integrated the modifications into their later releases, but I've never been able to make any of them work for Motorola radios.

True enough, lol. Forgot about that in all my rambling. Oh well, lots of others will work for him if needed.
