saber vs astro saber cable

saber vs astro saber cable

Is there any difference between the cable for the saber vs the astro saber? Are the compatible?

if you mean programming cable then yes they are different and no they are not compatible, the differences are detailed in schematics on the main site

OK, Thanks. I looked at the specs on the main site. Would it be ok for me to change the wires on the 25 pin connector or is it not that simple?

Pins 1/15/6/4/11 and 1/15/8/4/11 on the RIB connector are different, as shown on the diagrams there.

IIRC, the BUSY line is changed to the other polarity. At the 25 pin connector would be the best way..add a switch so the cable can be used for both Saber and ASSTRO Saber.

I did this years ago, & it worked great. Basically, the switch chooses between pin 6 & 8 depending on which radio is being programmed. GARY N4KVE
