Motorola MTVA ht1000 800 mhz

Post by daveriffel »

I recently purchased an mtva for my ht1000 however the unit i got was actually an 800 mhz my radio is vhf, is there a way to disconnect the amplifier in this unit and us just the controller portion of the amplifier unit? Does anyone have a vhf amplifier for an mtva they want to part with for a reasonable price.

The controller/amp should have 2 power connectors. Just disconnect the cable that goes to the amp side of the unit. Then just run the coax from the cradle directly to the antenna. That should do it. While I haven't found any VHF or UHF controller/amp combos, [most for sale on the popular site are 800], I have found some brand new controllers w/o amp for $20. They were from the Illinois State Prison System, and brand new in the box. These MTVA's work pretty good, & I had mine hooked up to a 100 watt TPL amp. Good luck. GARY N4KVE
