Jedi Speaker Mic antenna Question

Post by slatecom »

Hello all,

Bought the wrong antenna (had the stud connector without the hole in the centre) for my Jedi speaker mic (NMN6242B) and I just wanted to make sure it can be safely used without an antenna attached. I heard and checked (via an ohmmeter) that the cable acts as the load and the antenna is not required for proper operation. I don't know how good the signal is without an antenna but it has been working fine for me without one for short-range communications.

I think it's safe and that I'm right about the cable acting as the load but it's always better to play it safe so I don't burn anything out by accident.

Thanks!

You are going to want that antenna mounted on the mic for proper operation. It was not designed to be used without an antenna, unless you are trying to spite your PA.
