D104 to Maxtrac

Post by scott181 »

Looking at the pin out on the motorola maxtrac microphone. Looks possible, but has
anyone tried wiring an astatic D104 mic to a maxtrac for base use??? Any help would
be appreciated.

The D104 has a crystal microphone element and does not work with the Motorola mobile microphone inputs.

You would have to build an amplifier to match the D104 mic to the Maxtrac mic input.

It depends on which stand you have with the D104, some have amplifiers in them and might work with a Maxtrac.

You'd probably want to add a capacitor in line with the audio lead, as the bias voltage from the Maxtrac might cause problems. The amplifier has a cap on it's output but I believe they are electrolytic and the positive bias from the radio could reverse polarize it. I'd go with something like a 10uF and put the positive lead towards the radio.

Of course lord knows what it would sound like.....
