vhf to uhf mobile repeater question

Post by BigTex1136 »

Ok I know it can be done just not sure what I need. I want to use my VHF mobile radio to TX to my UHF portable radio and my portable to tx to my VHF. That way when I am not in my suv I can still use my 50watt radio for the long range stuff. Sucks living in the sticks. Portables just dont reach the tower sites. Thanks

You might look at the Pyramid vehicular repeaters.

edit: Or you could use another UHF radio connected to your VHF mobile with some sort of basic repeater interface.

As I recall the pyramid units take a bit of setting up using a service monitor or two.
