It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.

Er, I've never done that before... I always open the thing up and plug into the DB15F on the radio...

Alex, are you using a DB9 serial connection direct to pc, or using a RIB ? There are certain locations where this cable would be handy if it was possible to connect direct to serial without the RIB.
...And that's how radios work

It is through a RIB. Take a look at the link for the cable. One end states DB25 RIB.

This cable works for the Spectra Consolete as well as the Astro Spectra.
And yes it does require the Radio Interface Box, RIB.
You will also note that the cable provides voltage to run the /\/\ RIB.

I know the cable pin out was used for a RIB, I was asking if it was possible to terminate to DB9 and connect directly to a PC.

NO, the levels of the signals are different. That is why you need the Radio Interface Box, AKA RIB, to convert the RS232 signals from/to the computer to TTL signal levels in and out of the radio.Randy Ran wrote:Randy Ran wrote:Alex, are you using a DB9 serial connection direct to pc, or using a RIB ?
