I am about to open an HT1250/GP360. I have the service manual and have previously opened several Jedi MTS2000's.
I presume the HT1250 is basically the same. But I cannot tell from the service manual if the latches for the flex cables operate in the same way. I just want to make sure that I don't do any damage when I remove the flex cables - are there any tips or things I need to avoid.
I want to get inside my HT1250 in order to check all the grounding/screening points. I'm getting processor noise using the set top antenna. I'm aware of the issues with the antenna matching circuit/firmware versions BUT the noise on my radio disappears when I press down on the case just below the front buttons - so I'm thinking its poor grounding??
HT1250 - any tips on opening case and releasing flex?

Glenn is correct, the tool is the way to go. The P/N that Glenn gave you is for the XTS2500 and it will work fine, and it is the one I would get. They are around $10.00, well worth it.GlennD wrote:Buy the opener. Its cheap! 6685666d01

In addition to the above posts recommending the proper opening tool, I'd recommend being very gentle with the latches on the flex connectors...the hinge retaining pins are pretty small and easily broken as are the latch assemblies. I use the chisel shaped end of an orange stick under one end of the latch when releasing it. Be careful of the flex/connector alignment when reconnecting the flex with the connector.

Is the latch mechanism the same as with an MTS2000?
