Hi, I'd like to have my Quantar in-cabinet repeat and use my Asterisk app_rpt controller for courtesy tones, ID and linking. This setup would provide all the features of the Asterisk controller but avoids the delayed repeat audio.
Asterisk has a duplex mode to do full duplex with IDs and telemetry without repeat audio. So the Asterisk side is just what I need. Problem is I can't get the Quantar to in-cabinet repeat when AUX PTT is asserted. The enhanced WildCard doesn't have a AUXTX+TX ON action, only a AUXTX-TX ON which doesn't mix.
Thanks for any ideas.

Quantar in-cabinet repeat + external controller

I guess this is something the Quantar can't do. Not a big problem, the Asterisk controller repeated audio delay is not that long.

Re: Quantar in-cabinet repeat + external controller
Well, another issue has turned up when using an external controller on a Quantar. Reverse burst doesn't work. It's fine on in-cabinet repeat, my commercial radio with reverse has nothing but a barely audible mic click upon dekey. But with the external controller there's a squelch tail.
Anybody have any ideas why this might be happening?

Re: Quantar in-cabinet repeat + external controller
Yeah, app_rpt generates the "rest of the world" reverse-burst, not the Motorola one. It's not the Quantar's fault. I have an Asterisk remote base keying into a MSF5000, and it goes like this: "Node 27146 blahblahblah" <squelch crash><MSF hangtime><MSF reverse burst>
What you could do to solve it is to configure your setup so that the Quantar handles CTCSS encode/decode with the URI only handling key-on-COR, courtesy tones, audio, and CW ID. Having not connected an external controller to a Quantar personally (yet) I couldn't tell you what needs to go where, but others here can help.
