GMRS = Narrow Band ?

Post by Satelite »

Hello:
I did a search on GMRS going to narrow band per FCC ruling and found some real confusing info posted way back in 2003 here on bat labs.
I realize that the FCC has made many decisions since then regarding the narrow band ruling coming to affect jan 2013 ect.
But in the old as all get out postings it was said that the FCC was not making GMRS freqs go narrow band.
That was not my thought at all as of present day fcc rules.
So my qestion for clarification is :
Is GMRS required to go narrow band in 2013 as the others in the business pool are required ?
Thank You

No, GMRS is not covered by the narrowband mandate.
