I think he is moving to a new location so this may explain why he has an abbreviated listing. Also says he is having a moving sale but I don't see what is discounted for this.
If you look at what he sells some things can be found cheaper by simply going direct to Motorola Parts. Some other things may not, so as usual, the buyer needs to shop wisely.
Personally, I have never dealt with Panik due to some of the higher pricing. Although he takes the time to give each radio a condition rating of 1-9 and does have his web page laid out quite well when it is working right.

I delt with him breifly over the summer, when we needed to purchase some Minitor 3's within a time frame of 3 days.
I was calling most of the places I could find on the web, and called Panik. I don't think it was him I talked to, but the person took my name and number, and said he'd have someone get intouch with me.
about an hour later, I got a call from someone in Florida saying he had about 25 of them, and they were $400 a pop. ($80 under state bid at the time, and might still be a good price).
This is about the only experience I've had with Panik, although I didn't buy anything whomever answered the phone there and passed me on to the shop in Florida was really helpfull, and got me what I needed within my time frame.

I've dealt with John on numerous occasions. While he may be a little overpriced, he's been no more so than any reputable shop in my area. At the same time, he's had items in stock that many shops couldn't (or wouldn't) order for me. He's also quick and dependable... he's always returned my phone calls and emails in short order. I'm sure his moving is a reasonable explanation for your experience. Just bear with him; he does have a good reputation and will uphold it.

Yes, Panik has moved his shop and he's still getting set up in the new location. And he definitely is still dealing in lots of Sabers.
He's also got LOTS, and I DO mean LOTS, of Repco/Aerotron mobile and portable radios that are new leftovers. If you need reasonable quality professional radios and don't have a big budget to work with, you might check into them. They're not Motorola, but they'll do for most people.

I have never dealt with John (I've come close to calling him), but I'm more than willing to come to a small business owner's defense. In order for him to run a shop and offer the inventory he has on a regular basis, he has bills to pay every month. To pay these bills, he has to sell at a certain level. Even if his margin (the difference between what he sells it for and what he paid for it) is relatively high, he still has to buy all that stuff to have on hand in the first place and then he has to pay for space to store it. (i.e. by the time you factor in his overhead, his margin really is not that great.) So in a business as highly specialized as his, you will almost certainly will see prices above the "going rate" at the local hamfest or eBay because a lot of his inventory does not see a lot of turnover. And IMHO, you need guys like him around if you need an older radio or part and can't wait for it to come up on eBay. Essentially you are paying the premium for instant access to all of that stuff, which in my book is fair. If you need it right away buy it from Panik; if you need it a little more "affordable", wait 2 years until you finally find the deal you're looking for...

they go for around 100.00 on ebay when there posted.
if you wanna spend that much you go ahead , i dont get screwed when i buy my stuff.
his sabers are overpriced anyway but i guess when you buy them at surplud for 10 cents you have to sell them to others for 5.00 bucks
