Looking to buy a GM300, but have ?'s

Post by hfd921 »

Looking for a GM300 or similar mobile radio with paging capabilities , I recall reading that the GM300 had a built in tone generator. I would like something with atleast a tone generator, so we can put tones over our channel without having to have a console with decoder ect.

For example: Send tones over our channel to alert everyone of a important message, ect.

My question is as far a GM300 what features do I need? And what model should I be looking for?

Thanks

At a previous employer they had, i believe it was a GM300 base radio with tone generator and everyone had uhf pagers for the road techs. And to get someone attention on the mobile truck radios they would just activate one of the 30 pager tones that wasn’t assigned to anyone and it would go over the uhf radio main channel. very helpful.

What radios do you own?: CDM's, CP's, CM's, and more

The GM300 won't do narrowband. However, the CDM1250 and 1550 will, and they both have the QCII encode capability built right in.
