Our department has mostly PR1500 (VHF, conventional) and a few XTS2500 M1.5 (VHF, conventional and P25). Couple of questions the Moto rep has not been able to answer.
1. The PR1500s have an A-B-C rotary switch but cannot be programmed for more than 32 channels. Is there any way around this, so we could get another 16 in the "C" bank?
2. We can program scan lists by CPS on the XTS2500 M1.5 (and turn channels off with nuisance delete) but cannot use user-programmed scan like we can on the PR1500. In an M2 radio you can put scan program, select etc on the menu but not on the 1.5. Any workaround for this?
Thanks

Re: PR1500, XTS2500 questions
I know this does not answer and i might be completly wrong, but i think the mt, pr, xts1500 and xt2500 1,2,3 are basically the same radio with different software. Maybe the mt might need sonethin extra to do digital. moto hard codes the channel limit even thought theres no difference in hardware.

Same guts, different housings & codeplugs. Most of Panter88's XTS2500s started off life as MT or PR1500s....gopher wrote:I know this does not answer and i might be completly wrong, but i think the mt, pr, xts1500 and xt2500 1,2,3 are basically the same radio with different software. Somehow I don't think the old lab will allow me to inhale an XTS2500 M1 S-record and clone it into a PR1500. Will it?escomm wrote:Same guts, different housings & codeplugs. Absolutely not. Two totally different beasts. I don't know what the outcome of trying it would be, but I can be it wouldn't be good.vtac11 wrote:Somehow I don't think the old lab will allow me to inhale an XTS2500 M1 S-record and clone it into a PR1500. VTAC11
If you had a way to tell a pr1500 it was a 2500 it would be perfectly happy as one. Old lab isn't going to do it, but something more recent and designed to talk to astro25 radios would.
Absolutely correct, again...escomm wrote:Same guts, different housings & codeplugs. Most of Panter88's XTS2500s started off life as MT or PR1500s....

Re: PR1500, XTS2500 questions
Yes, well, that's not going to be in this shop anyway. How about any other way to add more channels to a PR1500, *or* to enable user programmable scan list to an XTS2500 M1.5, like we have on HT1000s?
