XTS3000 scan issue
We have an XTS3000 UHF Model III H09RDH9PW7BN flashcode 500008-000000-1 that will not receive on 12.5Khz UHF channels that have DPLs. The radio receives these channels fine when the channel is set as the selected channel.
Programming info:Unmute selected as standard, RX emphasis standard and carrier detect checked. All unmuting types tried and the channels are in the scanl list.
The only way the channels receive during scan is when RX is set to carrier squelch.
Any ideas?
Mark

Re: XTS3000 scan issue
Programmed exactly the same as the rest of the fleet and this is the only one with the issue?
What is the host/dsp?

Re: XTS3000 scan issue
Sorry all conv. channels in the radio; there are 2 narrowband channels in the scan bank with DPLs that work fine when selected as the TX channel but will not received when another channel is the selected talk channel and scan is on. Narrowband channels with ctcss work fine in sccan mode. The problem channels are in the sccan bank.

The DSP 8.03.02 Host 7.23 codeplug 000C. All of the other radios are HT1000/MTS2000/HT1250 and are programmed the same. There are no issues with the other radios and the 2 narrowband conv. channels with DPLs. Both Channels involved are around 460.00

Re: XTS3000 scan issue
The XTS3000 scan issue is still unsolved. I am able to monitor the channel with the when scan is off but when scan is on the channel goes silent. The scan function works correctly if the DPL is set as a CSQ. I have changed the scan switch option from top 2 position switch to A-B-C witout a change. I tried mixed mode receive and I attempted entering the channel as a second channel RX only in the same zone with the DPL. If I transmit with the scan selected on the frequencies in question the radio will receive the repeater tail. I have depressed the monitor button with the radio in scan when there is traffic on the channel and the RX will open for 15-20 sec. I turnied off the carrier detect required in the scan configuration and also back the unmute rule down to 1/0 ms in the rx unmute rule. These are 2 narrowband UHF channels in the 454 to 460Mhz range and utilize MDC1200. I disabled the MDC1200 options in an attempt to receive on scan and the issue remained. The problem does not seem to occur wlith standard PLs.

Re: XTS3000 scan issue
Is the DPL in question #223 by any chance? I ran into that same problem of "receive when parked on channel but not in scan" with that DPL and a stack of UHF Astro Spectras that I never could find a solution for. Eventually I wrote it off to a bug in the firmware and used another non-Astro radio.

Re: XTS3000 scan issue
No 2 DPLS 026/343. We are chaning more channels over to narrowband and I hope the list does not grow. I did have an MDC1200 issue with ID 2023 with a few CDM1250s while back.

Re: XTS3000 scan issue
and its definitly a software problem not a problem with the radio itself?
seems weird that only 1 radio is having the problem even though its programmed the same as the others.

Re: XTS3000 scan issue
I would suspect the reference oscillator is off-frequency. I'd expect narrow channels w/DPL to be especially susceptible.
I've seen it make trunking radios lose control channels lock, too.... Throw it on the service monitor and check it. (and let us know
what happened)

Re: XTS3000 scan issue
There was a FSB from around 2007 some time that related to a issue with not unmuting and having a firmware of R08.??.?? I can't locate that FSB to confirm the details but I know for a fact we had some radios that would have very intermittent receive and it was corrected by re-flashing the radios with an updated firmware.
Re: XTS3000 scan issue
That was for the Astro25 radios. Different beast.

Back from Shop; oscillator was off spec. and a minor tune up works great!

Re: XTS3000 scan issue
Yep; off-frequency w/DPL and narrowband-- like 2 gears not meshing properly. At least that's
how my brain reckons things....

Re: XTS3000 scan issue
How would the TX oscillator warp affect DPL in receive? There is no RX oscillator adjustment.

Re: XTS3000 scan issue
The reference oscillator affects both TX and RX; if the radio's off frequency it's off frequency. Set your reference oscillator
off by 5KHz and listen to your favorite repeater.....

Interesting. I don't recall seeing that mentioned in either Astro Portable service manual.kk6rq wrote:The reference oscillator affects both TX and RX..

Try it just the same; you'll see it does.Interesting. I don't recall seeing that mentioned in either Astro Portable service manual.

Oh no, I don't doubt you at all. It just would have been nice for Motorola to mention that in the documentation somewhere. Like in the alignment instructions.
