CDM1250 MDC decode/display

Post by jchabalie »

My CDM1250 is set up to display the MDC ID's once they are decoded. The problem is, occasionally, the MDC only displays for a split second before it disappears. Other times, it displays fine. Is there something in the programming that can change this setting to make it hold on the screen longer?? Thanks for any input.

If another radio keys up sending out another id then it will drop the first one and display the next one. Or if you're seeing this in scan mode then they're sometimes slower?

It does it both in scan mode and when not scanning. I understand that signalling isn't very reliable when scanning, but it also does it when not scanning. For example, if a radio with the MDC at the end of the transmission keys up then releases, it, at times, quickly disappears while other times it hangs for a few seconds before disappearing from the display as it should. I wasn't sure if there was some setting in the programming that you could make it stay longer so it can actually be seen.

There is no setting to extend how long it stays displayed

Have you ever checked the firmware version of the radio? Read the radio and look at "Radio Information". If its earlier than R05.08.05, I encourage the update of the firmware in the radio. I can't say I've ever seen particular bug in our fleet of CDM's, but then again, we update the firmware when we touch the radio. One example of a bug in earlier firmware is the Home and Home2 function. The bug was that you couldn't get the radio to perform Home 2, even if programmed to do so.
