XTS2500 Low Battery Chirp

Post by henryg »

Hello. I am using a XTS2500 portable and occasionally I will get a low battery chirp right after transmiting with a speaker mic, not using the side PTT button, even though the battery is fully charged. Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks. Henry

Sure you've got the correct antenna? I had an XTS 3000 on 440MHz that would do this when it had the stubby 470-520MHz antenna on it and the radio was close to ones body. Swapped out the antenna, problem is gone.

I am using the Motorola supplied VHF antenna. It could be wrong. I did remove the antenna and no chirp. How could the antenna cause this problem? Henry

Do you have the OEM battery and Impress charger? Does the radio show the battery charge indicator? Had 1 of mine do this. All I did was cycle the battery through the discharge / charge in the impress charger and all was well.

Update - I did recharge the battery and chirp has gone away for now. If this changes I'll be back! Thank you for all the help. Henry
