The SAR group I belong in has your usual repeaters built out of Maxtracs with a RICK. Recently so we can be ready for narrow banding we acquired a CDM1550 on VHF and a CDM1250 on UHF to replace the Maxtrac set. So we first tried using the same Maxtrac accessory connector settings with the CDMs but that didn't work. We made some changes and got the setup to work one way from UHF to VHF but not the other way and we need to be bi-directional.
Anyone have the right pin settings for the CDMs for this setup? And do we need to change anything on the RICK? Thanks!

Re: CDM1550/1250 with RICK
I just built one today from the circuit detailed at http://batboard.batlabs.com/viewtopic.php?t=20966 (the bi-directional one), did it between an CDM750 and a M120, worked just fine! Just keep in mind the proper pinout of the back of the radio... I was wiring the accessory plug while looking at a diagram of the jack on the back of the radio, and ended up wiring all the pins backward the first time.
Only thing I needed to assign was External Mic PTT on Pin 3 and PL/DPL Detect or CSQ Detect on Pin 8, the rest is hard-wired stuff, if you follow that diagram.
Hope that helps.

Re: CDM1550/1250 with RICK
Pretty sure the CDM has a pre-set accessory configuration in the drop down box to take care of this for you. One radio gets RX side and the other TX.
Re: CDM1550/1250 with RICK
I just double checked with my colleague and we tried the pre-set plus the changes that KC2SPY mentioned; it ends up being one way still. He is getting a matching 1250 soon so he wants to try putting that into the picture to see if some goofy mismatch issue.escomm wrote:Pretty sure the CDM has a pre-set accessory configuration in the drop down box to take care of this for you. Since the RICK was setup previously with Maxtracs, do we need to change the DIP switches on the RICK at all?

use the drop down boxes and set both radios up as recieve but change pin3 on both radios to external mic ptt input and check the debounce enable box. Since you're using it dual direction both radios rx and both radios tx. and yes the rick switches should stay the same.
