CPS for MTX950 hack to hamband.

Post by PETNRDX »

I have a nice little MTX950 I got from a board member.
Now I need to get it programmed ( He made mistakes on the programming so it is unusable )
I have HVN9067 ver. R02.01.03 with file date of March 29, 2006 at 5:28 PM
And I tried the Hex Edit listing from Karl N2RLD, but NONE of that matches.
Can't even find the "old string" anywhere in the file.
Can anyone confirm that the edit listing is correct?
Or give me any suggestions.
I am fairly knowledgeable on Hex Editing, having done lots of older stuff ( Like GM300, MARATRAC, M-400, SP50, SM50, MCS2000, etc.)
But this has me stumped.

Never mind, I got it figured out.
But, if anyone knows a way to get more channels, add a zone or get scan to work, I would be interested in that info.

If you want to do alignment, do it before you program any ham frequencies. For some reason, the ham frequencies seem to confuse the service software and you will get strange results. I had to resort to unmodifying the software, deleting all the ham frequencies, and starting over. I am not saying this will happen to you for sure, but do be cautious. While I am no fan of the MTX950, I do have some and find they work well on the ham segment. I too would be interested in a way to get more than 8 frequencies in one.

That is a good point.
Many of the other 900 radios get real weird at the hamband.
So far this one checks OK.
But, probably is a good idea to check it each time I have a reason to make major changes and write the radio.
I usually do any alignment with un-hacked SW, and "in band" freqs.
Then write the ham freqs only after making sure the radio is working right.
Yeah, having more than 8 ch, a DIRECT button and / or scan would be great.
