mof230 Programming

Post by Motradio »

I know a few folks have messed with these mobile radios, I have one and have it working somewhat OK, but can't get some of the programming to work. For example The Mic has 3 buttons on the side with programming, but they just don't seem to work or don't work as advertised ;)

Have it working OK on 220mhz ham, not worth the $$ IMO, I would think messing with CDM 1550 is a better way to go if you can get it all programmed up.

The software is funky to say the least, but seems to work.

Thanks

Were there options in the Wookie CPS for side-button mics? I don't remember seeing them if there was. The IMOF MCS2000/MOF230 and its bastard Wookie software were based on the European MCS/Jedi line so maybe Andreas or one of the other Euro experts can chime in here.

I agree, the CDM1550 is a vastly superior radio.

Yeah, if you hit one of the odd icons (might have been the music note in the Wookie) their was a button that was on the radio face picture that pops up options for the buttons. Not sure if any worked. The top button give a normal beep, the bottom 2 give the error beep when anything is or is not programmed. Also I tried one of the DTMF mics as well and it seemed they accept channel entry for single digit channel entry, side buttons work the same on either mic. Not sure if it the wrong mics, but they both work fine on the regular MCS2000's I have. The one without the DTMF but with side buttons was new with the MOF230 so I would expect the right one (Don't have the model handy).

Initial reports on audio with a few contacts were excellent, so at least it has that going for it, and would expect nothing less from a big /\/\ product 8)

Also do you know what the blinking speaker icon is in the radio's display, I can only guess that it's something not right on the accessory connector or the mic hang up switch?

Next one will be a CDM1550 for sure, the Wookie software is a mess...

The blinking speaker icon means it's in carrier squelch mode. Nothing I could do would make it go into tone squelch receive.. it completely ignores the HUB setting. Just like your side buttons.

Haha, yep, looks like it's a pretty odd radio they stuffed into an MCS2000 chassis. Good enough until I can waste some more dollars on a CDM. It's at least new looking since they cleaned it up and added a new Knob and faceplate from what it looks like. He ran out of the MCS2000 sticker and said he hopes it was OK to leave the MOF230 one on... It's a rare radio you know the story 8)
