LCS2000 Power On Cycling - wont stay on

Post by Sikdmax »

Just got in a LCS2000 off of eBay. "Untested".... when plugged in and powered up all LEDs and lcd screen segments come on as in a power up state, then everything goes blank, as if the radio is off.

This radio has no jumpers or accy connector installed - are there any pins that need to be jumpered or something like that that would prevent power up, or is this radio toast? Anything simple inside that could cause this or time for the trash can? The radio only cost me $15.

Thanks very much

Chances are, the radio is in perfect condition... Just needs 12v to pin 10 of the accessory connector, and she'll power up! (ignition sense) Once you get the programming software out, you can likely defeat this in software... BUT, first, you need this!

It has been a few years since my fleet of LCS2000s, but if memory serves me you need the accessory connector (with jumper) installed or you'll see exactly what you're seeing. Yes, it is the same physical plastic accessory connector that the Maxtrac/CDM/etc. uses, however they are pinned completely differently (and have a label on the factory-issued one stating same). Ignition sense is NOT on pin 10 like the CDM and family. I'm guessing Batlabs has the pinout on the archive page. Be careful, pinning them incorrectly will ruin your radio. I've seen a few where this mistake was made thinking M might actually pin them all in a standardized fashion. Not! You've got a nice radio...good luck.

Actually, according to the GTX/LCS2000 page on BatLabs (http://www.batlabs.com/gtx.html), the ignition sense pin is still the same... Just make sure that you count the number of pins correctly (as in, where pin 1 is, where pin 2 is, where pin 16 is... orient yourself!)

I've had many GTX with this "issue" (really a feature) during testing and the same thing happened on power-up... Find pin 10, apply 12v, and voila!
