Fellow Forum Members,
I'd like to add a 442.000 MHz frequency to my XTS2500 and Astro Saber that are in the 450/520 MHz range.
I have the following CPS versions for these radios
XTS2500
R13.00.01
Astro Saber/XTS3000
R05.03.00
I'm not the most cumputer/software saavy person, but any help on how to achieve this will be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Larry

A little knowledge in hex editing is required but nothing too crazy. Below are links to the Batlabs instructions on how to do it as well as Akardam's more detailed instructions on how to do it. I prefer Hex Workshop but apparently Akardam prefers another program.

Is it even possible to program out of band on the XTS 2500/5000 series anymore?

Certainly is. How well it works on any particular radio is another matter.

I just need to get about 7-10mhz above range on a parts built xts4000 from fleabay. Iv been holding off on ordering one because the hacked parts are all UHF L. I'd rather not brick it but certainly wouldn't lose any sleep if I did. If anyone has had high success with this I'd greatly appreciate your help!

I've got a UHF L XTS4000 (as well as an XTS5000, ASTRO Saber, MTS2000...) on 477MHz, and it seems to work reasonably well but I don't operate up there often. I just followed the out of band patch instructions on akardam's website.
There aren't many ways go brick it by pushing it out of band. You might get a FAIL 001 if the VCO isn't happy with going that far, but change back to a channel within band and it'll recover.
