XTL5000 Scan & Decode Quick Call

Post by batmoto »

I was trying to have the XTL5000 scan a few conventional channels with one channel muted until it receives quick call tones at which time I would like an alert tone to go off and hear the audio that follows (like a pager). I have this setup and working fine on a CDM1550 however I have not been able to get this to work with the XTL5000. Any ideas?

Thanks

You going to have problems with the radio decoding pager tones while scanning. the radio probably will miss the short tone due to it scanning and the originating transmitter probably doesn't have any pre delay on the page encoder to bring up the transmitter and wait a finite of time before sending the paging tones. The combination of the above reasons will cause the mobile to miss the first tone in most cases and as such, will not decode the page.

I realize that while scanning I may miss a call. I am okay with that. The issue I am having is that I don't seem to be able to get the XTL5000 to remain muted until it receives the tones on that particular channel. It works on the CDM series, however I don't seem to be able to get this working on the XTL. I must be missing something in the programming.

Thanks

I had the same problem with my VHF XTS2500. For some reason while scanning it seems to disregard any muting rules. I tried to setup a scan list between my local EMS and FD channel for both to stay muted till QCII goes out but it stays open
