Current draw of the Astro Saber III

Post by JerryS »

I am looking for info on the amount of current that the Astro Saber III will draw when the radio is Transmitting.

I want to relocate the battery apart from the radio, and need to know the minimum AWG of wire that I should use.

Max length will be 1 meter

Thanks

BTW: The radio is VHF

What radios do you own?: XTS2.5K-Q, ASpectra, MT2K

I would say about 2 amps maximum, closer to 1.5. 22AWG or even 24AWG will probably do just fine for you, at that short of a distance.
