Programming mrk II

Post by wcema928 »

I am currently trying to program a mrk II with version r15 software. Here is my problem when I try to input the freq 155.7525 and have the narrow band selected. It comes up with an error of not allowing the freq due to the 5khz (as if it will not take the narrow band freq. Any thoughts of help.

I take it you mean a GE/MaCom MRK-II and not a motorola radio, this group is for Motorola radios but to save bandwidth I'll answer this now and then the mods can lock it.

155.7525 is a 2.5 KHz step channel on the MRK narrow band radio and not valid.

The MRK Narrow Band radio requires that the channels be in either 5 or 6.25 KHz steps so from
155.750 MHz, which is the closest valid interval, the next valid programmable channel is either 155.755 or 155.75625, both of which I just tried and work fine.

You could make up a special SC4 file that is off by 2.5 KHz but then all other frequencies that fall on regular 5KHz or other on 6.25 KHz spacings would all be off by 2.5 KHz.

I have done it just to test out the theory but it isn't practical because it's a big nightmare just to keep track of the SC4 offset programming.
