I have just received a mcs2000 that says mof230 flashport on it.
Yes its from Indonesia i believe and its in the 220 mhz band.
model number is m01mhl9pw4an
heres the questions i have
can i remote mount this radio and do i need the same control head or any control head will do?
the face has 5 buttons under the screen and and a channel up/down button.
I would like the wider ones I have seen for the extra digits on the readout.
it does have the acc connector on the bottom of the radio if that helps any.
thanks for your time and help.
william

You have this:

and you want to go to this:

right? Yes, the programming software will let you do that - you pick the model with the 1 line/14 character display from a drop-down menu. And yes, remote mount kits made for US MCS radios will work with these no problem.

How is the unit working out for you? I assume you're using it for the 220MHz amateur band? I was thinking about getting one when they pop up on ebay again. Did they send you CPS with it? Any troubles programming? Thanks...

If you leave it as a model 1 in the programming, sure. Whoever told you that has probably never used the Wookie RSS and doesn't know that you can change model definitions with it.wa1emt wrote:Also i am being told that no matter what I do I wont be able to get more then 8 characters out of any head i use...does anyone know if this is true
You should be able to find the part number for the cable in a board search, as well as the back plastic to convert a dashmount head to remote use and the front plastic to go on the radio. I wand to say Jeff (escomm) sold all 3 parts as a complete kit on Ebay for a while.
