Homebrew Astro Spectra interface

Post by immelmen28 »

Software is my thing, I am not a hardware guy....but I have been wanting to use an extra high power astro spectra I have to create a P25 Echolink node. I have zero tools/experence messing with SMT so changing things inside the radio is not really an option for me. I would like to try home brewing a cable to interface with but dont have a clue how to do that.

Is there anyone who has done this that might share a detailed list of what I need from radio shack and what to do with it to make this happen?

I have never done this with a spectra, but I have done it with a CDM. it is very simple to interface to the computer. The tx and rx audio can go to the sound card and the serial port can be used for keying and detecting a received signal. I also know repeater builder.com has good descriptions of interfacing with the radio. take a look at this and good luck
