Programming via Laptop

Post by BBR »

Has anyone had any experience with using CPS through an Express Card serial port?

Has anyone updated firm ware through an Express Card serial port?

My laptop doesn't have a serial port but I can get an express card serial adapter for it.

Thanks

you're always best finding a laptop or desktop that has a real serial port

I haven't had a problem using USB to serial adapters with modern CPS. RSS that required older machines usually also had a com port to work with too.

This guy probablly thought the same thing but it does happen: http://batboard.batlabs.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=101772
I just still can't understand why so many people think that if they get a new computer the must get rid of the old one? Especially if it still works and has the ports you need?

my old slow laptop crapped out and now I am stuck with my faster Pentium laptop. I recall reading somewhere that you could slow down the serial port to protect the codeplug from overwrite. Does this sound familiar or do I need to buy another junker laptop?
