XTS 5000 without channing scanning capability?

Is it possible that the flashcode for my XTS5000 does not include channel scanning capability? I use my UHF XTS to scan regularly, but have not been able to locate a scan function on my 800mhz 9600baud unit. Could it be that this unit does not have scanning capability? I (perhaps wrongly) assumed that channel scan would be standard in all flashcodes. If it does not, is it possible to flash this unit to allow scanning capability?

It is much more likely that the radio has had no scanlist or lists programmed into it, that's all. You will have to read the CPS that is in the radio to find out.

I have used the CPS to program it and enter a scan list. Perhaps I am not doing it correctly, but the same method I have used for my UHF radio is not working. I cannot find scan in the menu options, and I see nothing related to scanning in my flashcode. Any thoughts?

Scanning is not a flashcode feature, it's part of the basic feature set. Are you saying it's not one of the menu options within the CPS, or that you've put it in as a menu option but don't see it show up on the radio screen itself after programming. If it's the second one, make sure the scan list you created is referenced in the personalities, otherwise it doesn't show in the radio's screen.
