Astro spectra CPS 5.03 question
I have a VHF spectra D04KKH9PW9AN, 500001-000000-8, 8.10 firmware. I am a little lost with this radio as I am trying to remove some personalities and and change the PL/DPL tones. The personality screen will not allow me to change some of the information beyond the tx and rx frequencies, i.e. the tone box are dark shaded and do not allow info change. However on some of the personalities the boxes are unshaded and I can chage the tones. I think I need to remove/disable the VRS mode and/or mode steering to make this happen. I am just wanting to do some basic HAM programming and set up some receive channels. I have programmed an astro spectra before but the set-up wasn't quite this complicated.
Thanks,
Mike
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Astro spectra CPS 5.03 question
OK I was able to get past that by deleting those personalities and adding some new ones. What I need to know is how to get this thing to scan. I have scan enabled in the tree and have all personalities in the list. I am wondering if that is the problem. I have a list set but I have scan set to operator select. Also for the digital personalities how do I select a NAC code?

One simple question. Do you have the metal button on the back of the mic grounded when your trying to get the radio to scan?
There is a setting in the software to allow scanning off hub. If this is checked, the radio should scan all the time.
The D04 at the start of the model number normally indicates you have an Astro Spectra. That makes a big difference in the software you should be using.

Jim,
Yes that was it. It looks like the box in the scan configuration was checked for Hub suspends scan. I deselcted it and it should fix that.
Any info on where the NAC codes are selected?

In the "Astro" tab in the conventional personality..."Network ID" fields.radiocat37 wrote:

No trees were harmed in the posting of this message...however an extraordinarily large number of electrons were horribly inconvenienced.

Yes that is it. Thanks for answers as it looks like I can build a decent, yet basic codeplug. I am already able to hear some digital radio traffic from the Nat park svc VHF repeaters near by . Thanks again.

I have everything set except my scan list selection. I have set up three scan lists. How do I toggle between the scan lists?
Thanks

Re: Astro spectra CPS 5.03 question
Each personality is assigned a scan list in the scan tab. You can't change the scan list that is assigned to it. If you have operator select priority and or non priority members assigned then the user can change what is in the scan list by pressing and holding the scan button until it beeps.

Re: Astro spectra CPS 5.03 question
OK....I see that now and have assigned each personality into a scan list (total of 3 lists). Now how do I switch from scan list-1 to scan list-2 or list-3. Or maybe I am confused in that it doesn't work that way.
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Astro spectra CPS 5.03 question
A scan list is created and then assigned to a personality. If you want to have another scan list assigned to the same frequency you will need to either enable user selectable scan and manually reprogram the scan list from the radio controls or create a new personality with the same channel information but with a different scan list assigned to it and then select that channel from the radio.
As an example:
You have 16 channels in your radio. Scan list one scans the selected channel plus channels 1-9. Scan list two scans channels 3, 7, 10, & 12. Scan list three scans all 16 channels. If you want to scan the list in scan list one while channel 5 is selected, then program the radio with the personality associated with scan list one into channel 5. When on channel 5, you will scan channels 1-9. If you want to scan the list associated with scan list two while on channel 1, then program the radio with the personality associated with scan list two into channel 1. When on channel 1 you will scan channels 3, 7, 10, & 12. If you want to scan the channels in scan list 3 while on channel 16 then program the radio with the personality associated with scan list three into channel 16. When on channel 16 you will scan all 16 channels.
I hope that is a decent explaination of what needs to happen.
