Mototrbo External Speaker RSN4002 - can you open case??
I have a Motorola RSN4002/GMSN4066 external speaker which has damage to the speaker cable just where it enters the speaker case.
Basically one wire has completely split. Because its split just where it enters the case, almost inside the "wire restraint", its practically impossible to repair without actually opening the speaker case.
There are no screws holding the case together - so I guess it must just clip together?
I'm looking for hints and tips on opening the case. I will probably intially try using an old plastic credit card to push along the edge and hopefully the case will pop apart!!

I have a feeling that there actually is a screw that holds these together... Have you looked on the backside of the speaker, perhaps under a label?

There is no label on the speaker - the model number is actually printed on the back!! I can't see or feel any screws!!

They are glued.

Not what I wanted to hear. Time for plan B..pre-tin some thin stranded wire and push into both sides of split and try and solder without melting anything!!

That "wire restraint" you mention may be removable. Try squeezing it with regular pliers to see if it will come out the back of the case. If it does, you'll have at least halfway decent access to the bad section of wire you need to fix.

The wire restraint is made of "hard plastic" with no give. There is a sort of tab which is holding the wiring but if you squeeze it in with pliers it looks like it will crush the wiring?? Maybe you need to prize open the tab to release the wiring as well as the whole restraint??
