Astro Spectra Plus Programming Cable

Post by biglogdog »

Does anyone have a programming cable schematic for the astro spectra plus?? I realize the cables used with the rib don't work. Thanks!

It has the "rib" built into the cable so to speak. There are electronics contained within the cabling. It is not a simple build if that is what you are thinking.

Yeah I was thinking it would be a simple build but thanks for the reply. If anyone may have one they are trying to get rid of let me know. Thanks Jason

And if you're searching for a cable, look for HKN6155

Alright so it programs from the front rather than the 15 pin accessory port on the rear?

Astro Spectra Plus radios program through the keyloader port...so a dashmount it plugs into the control head and on a remote mount it plugs in into the kvl port on the drawer unit.

Don't freak out when the control head blanks out after you plug it it. The radio actually resets itself and the display remains blank.

Since it hasn't been explicitly stated here, you are using Astro25 CPS and not Astro Spectra, right?

Yes I'll use the ASTRO25 CPS. I've been programming spectras and astro spectras for years and the AS+ looks almost identical so it would lead one believe it would use the same cables. But now I know. Thanks guys.
