hey, i have a SYSABER 3000 (NO:H99QX+099H)
now i have a problem, when the radio gets cold (below +10c) then it spits out some error messages; Error 09 Passlost 06 01 04; after thats done, it gets into a LCD/KEY Test mode. and doesnt boot up properly until it is warm and cosy again.
ill give you whatever info you want, i would like this thing to work, since i paid some for it.

Re: Motorola 3000 Error problems
I would suspect the reference oscillator as the culprit.
This oscillator is the main reference for TX/RX frequencies, offsets and any timebased use.

Re: Motorola 3000 Error problems
how would i go by to check and hopefully fix that problem?
Re: Motorola 3000 Error problems
Use a spec. analyzer on the RF input(not TX power) connection, and use a 'sniffer' while tuned to the ref. oscillator freq. Many are 16.800 Mhz.
A sniffer is simply a piece of coax with the braid removed on a short section of the inner conductor, wrapped in a tight coil of less than 1 inch. the braid soldered to the end of the inner conductor of the now formed coil. Use heat shrink to keep the coil in place.
You should get a solid reading in dBm on your display, indicating frequency error, and strength of signal.
Try bringing the oscillator down as low as you can for at least 10 minutes and chek the results, same goes for room temp, note the difference and note any errors on your measurements.
Cold appears to 'stall' the radio....First clue t solving the problem!

Re: Motorola 3000 Error problems
Never heard of a System Saber 3000 but... luckily for you the 16.8 MHz LO crystal is common to all ranges and models of Saber and Systems Saber, so finding a replacement won't be a problem.
Re: Motorola 3000 Error problems
I have, or should have a small selection of these oscillaors in stock.
I will have to dig to find them, and if I do, I would be happy to send you one for the cost of shipping.
Please, no batboard messages, Email or text using my info below.....Thanks!

Re: Motorola 3000 Error problems
Mentioning the Syssaber 3000, sounds like the Euro version of the same radio(U.S).
If this is so, then the U.S version of RSS/CPS will probably not work, but I susect you already know this.
My offer still stands.
