GM900 programming problems

Post by stevey »

I have been having problems with a gm900 that I acquired.I believe the codeplug is corrupt but I can't even extract it from the unit. The display on the radio lights up but there is no channel number? The three led's keep flashing in sequence. I know this radio is trying to tell me something....( maybe to throw it in the scrap pile)When I try to extract the possibly bad codeplug, the downloading sequence starts but only 1 block is read and than a checksum error appears. This is using both astro lab rss and the gm900 rss.Could this mean my eprom is fried or perhaps blank?
Any solutions would be most welcome..thanks

Maybe you could "clone" an exact model/type codeplug? The gm-900 is a bit difficult to programm, you need a clean dos enviroment!

GM900 codeplug

Post by stevey »

Thanks for the reply,
There doesn't seem to be a label on this unit and I never did get a model number from the download since that didn't work to well.I guess there must be some kind of identification on the inside.

If in fact your code plug is corupt = then you really have nothing to loose by trying the next sugestion.

Give us what you believe to be corect info for this GM900 radio and see if we cant come up with a possible match per your specs you think the radio is.

Wattage = ?
Freq spread = ?
Number of channels it is capable of = ?
25 or 12.5 khz freq (Wide band or Narrow Band or Both) = ?
You got he idea so give us any and all the info you can think of.

Then maybe we can supply a code plug and you can try to load it into the GM900 and see if it works .

Just a thought.

Does it have a normal controlhead (display and mike) or the handheldcontrol version. The MR304B is a German made GM-900. Both types of codeplugs are on my laptop...So drop me a PM!

What radios do you own?: radios

Use the GM/GP900 Lab and create a default codeplug(M01KHK9AN3BN).
Retune it and you have a good radio.
