Motorola MCR100 Radiotelephone Interconnect Pinout? TDN8195A

Post by d119 »

Hi Group,

I have a Motorola TDN8195A "MCR 100 Radio-Telephone Interconnect" here. Unfortunately I don't have any documentation that explains what the pinout is. I have the manual, but it's very vague on what the pin connections of "P1" are. The only connections to the patch are a DB15M (Radio) and an RJ-11 (telephone).

It appears this patch was meant to interface to the MCR100 or R100 repeaters using a factory cable, making it a "plug and play" operation. I want to connect it to an MSF 5000 that has voting attached to it, so we can make and receive phone calls over the radio.

Anyone have the pinout for this device? With that, I think I can get the rest of it done.

Thanks!

The R100 and MCR100 have a DB25 connector on them, so is it possible that your MRTI needs another cable, or someone chopped off the right one?

I'm aware of one MRTI manual but it might not have cabling in it.

As it is now, I have neither the R100 nor the cable, just the TDN8195A interconnect, and no idea what pin is what on it.

Does anyone have a cable for one of these (DB25 to DB15) they could ring out for me and at least tell me whats going where on the R100 side?

The pinout for the 25 pin DB connector for the patch is in the R100 service manual.

The MRTI that goes with the MCR100 repeater is TDN7406A.

Here is the pinout for that unit:

MRTI pin - function
1 - Power Gnd
2 - Signal Gnd
3 - 12 Volt D.C. in
4 - PTT
5 - Tx Audio +
6 - Tx audio -
7 - Rx 1 (audio)
8 - Rx 2 (Gnd)
9 - Alert Inhibit (low)
10 - Patch Inhibit (low)
11 - Manual Connect (low)
12 - Unsquelch

I don't know if that will do you any good, though.

The TDN8195 is actually known as the MRTI 500X.
It was intended for use with MaxTrac control ststions, not for use with repeaters.

So if it's meant for use with the control stations, does that mean it's a "simplex" type patch with VOX-based operation? That's not what I want...
