My new XTL5000

Post by lyndonrescue13 »

I have a few very nOOb questions, and if you can point me to a thread that already answers these questions I would appreciate it. So far I have not found any...

I have purchased an XTL5000 110W VHF. I have never programmed one of these radios before, and have some questions.

Is there any special mode you have to bring the radio up in to flash it? Or just power on like the portables I have programmed previously.

Also, I have an XTL2500 codeplug that has about 180 personalities that I want to go on my XTL5000. Is there any good way to transfer these onto a codeplug for the XTL5K?

Any other advise would be great. Thanks in advance.

Top level drag and drop will save you hours. Open two instances of CPS both with your new codeplug and your old codeplug. Grab the very top level of the programming tree, and drag the source to the target top level. Depending on your options, you may have a few errors, but it should save you a lot of typing.

There is no special mode for programming, just power it up.

Just to add to the above it should be noted that with the top level drag & drop method all data
in the target radio will be over written.
