Hey guys,
This is going to be a little hard to explain and probably a little hard to follow.
I have heard FDNY firefighter's radios with a tone when they release the mic instead of when they key it. Im not talking about the MDC cherp the other radios receive but its like a side tone but instead of at the beginning of the transmission when the mic is keyed but when the mic is released. I have an XTS 3000 III ....any ideas and if so is there any way to put that on my radio???

Brendan,
Whatever the "chirp" or "tone" is, you might want to think twice before putting it on your radio, unless maybe everyone
else on your system uses the same setup. You obviously already know what MDC is and what purpose it serves, but I've
found over the years that the fastest way to lose friends is to put an audible sound on each transmission when it means
absolutely nothing.
Regards,

It's called TPS signalling, and an XTS3000 can't do it.
