Converting a Motorola MCX100

Post by Alexander McCarthy »

Hi all,

I'm looking for some guidance around re-purposing the above to work within the Australian UHF CB frequency range.

I understand there's a modification which can be made to add a modern EEPROM (?) to the unit so it can be more readily re-programmed moving forward, but as I am not expert (clearly), I would greatly appreciate contact from anyone with practical experience around the above.

There are a number of these radios which will need similar treatment, so ideally someone residing around the Melbourne area would be ideal, but basically any direction would be most welcome at this point.

Cheers,

Alex.

Greatly appreciate the link, but I was hoping there might be a less "hands on" way of modifying these radios. Perhaps a pre-assembled PCB which could be swapped out for the existing PCB (if that's even possible).
