CRP-101 2WAY RADIO SIMPLEX REPEATER

Can i hook this up to a GM300 Mobile radio?

I want it for GMRS at a camp site.

Could someone build me a cable to hook to the CRP-101 and to my GM300?

Thanks

I don't think you're going to like using a simplex repeater.

They tend to make things more confusing if you are in range of the originator and the repeater.

You need to find someone local to you that can build the cable, and set the levels.

Obviously, you need one smart enough to insert the word "Relay" every time, for that truly Hamsexual experience:

"Honey, get the marshmallows out of the car."
"RELAY: Honey, get the marshmallows out of the car."
"OK, anything else?"
"RELAY: OK, anything else?"
This is my opinion, not Aeroflex's.

I WILL NOT give you proprietary information. I make too much money to jeopardize my job.

I AM NOT the Service department: You want official info, manuals, service info, parts, calibration, etc., contact Aeroflex directly, please.

I messed with one from Radio Shack a few years back, there's was intended to be used with a portable. Yeah, in normal repeater type usage I can see it likely would have wound up smashed to pieces before long. We were using it up in the woods to connect our group and for very limited use it was kinda cool and the part I liked was hearing your own audio back you could tell exactly how you were making it and easy to define the range of the device without having to keep asking 'how am I making it ? We abandoned the thing after going thru 4 of them as they kept taking a dive but saw the potential if it would have worked more reliably. Set up couldn't be easier, I looped a branch with some line about 40' up with the help of a bow and just hauled it up.

We connected an FRS radio on channel one with no tone in a 5 gallon bucket and placed it at the top of a 2300' mountain back in the day. Lulz were had

The connections on the DB9 look pretty self-explanatory, so here's what I'd use. Note: I am not responsible for damage to your GM300, post is for experimentation purposes only, blah blah etc. I see the CRP-101 doesn't specify whether mic keying is active high or active low; if it's active high the radio won't key.

Code: Select all

GM300--------------CRP-101
7--------------------8 & 9
11-----------------------7
2------------------------4
3------------------------5
8------------------------2
Note that you will need to go into the accessory connector configuration in the GM300 RSS and set pin 8 to "PL/DPL & CSQ Detect", active low. Or you can select "Phone Patch" from the drop-down and it will do it for you.
