Monitoring a IIi Hybrid system with XTS5k...
Hello, all. I am trying to program my XTS5k up onto a IIi system in my area. I have the system key from the administrator and my unique individual ID. I know that the IIi system is used when some of your users have older Type I radios and some have type II radios. The talkgroups I am trying to program in are strictly in use by newer type Type II radios and they are not Type I talkgroups and have no Subfleet ID. The majority of the radios on the system are MTS2000's and XTS3000's, and I don't think anyone else has an XTS5000. Under the 'General' tab for the trunking system I have the type set to II because there is no IIi option in there like there is in my MTS2000 codeplug. The system ID is correct along with the connect tone and all the control channels in that tab. I have tried a combination of SmartZone and WAC AMSS for the coverage type, but for whatever reason I am getting no traffic on the channels. It is affiliating with the system for sure because I do not get the Out of Range indicator and the signal strength meter is present and strong. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for your time and expertise. -E

What firmware is your 5K? IIRC there are several issues with Astro 25 HOSTS of various generations not playing nice with IIi controllers.
My 5K is running 17.01 HOST, and it's alot slower to unmute on the one remaining analog type II than my MTS2000's are.

Same here...17.01.01. Is there anything special I need to change as far as the programming of the codeplug or should it be the same straightforward fields just like any other type II? As of right now I am not getting any traffic at all but I see nothing wrong with the programming. The other type II system on there is working just fine although I do know that delay you are speaking of. I helped to program a decent amount of the older MTS2k's that are on the system so I have a codeplug to work off of and am familiar with the system but am really stumped. Thanks for your reply.MTS2000des wrote:What firmware is your 5K? IIRC there are several issues with Astro 25 HOSTS of various generations not playing nice with IIi controllers.

the delay I am experiencing is the radio unmuting on type II talkgroups, it's almost like the radio goes to sleep. No problem on mixed mode (4.1) systems, and no problems on Astro 25. But sometimes it's a couple of seconds before you start hearing traffic on a type II talkgroup on a pure analog type II system. Since we only have one in the radio and rarely use it, it's not a big issue.EindhovenOne wrote:Same here...17.01.01. as far as programming, nothing special that I am aware of.
